Building bamboo rods the last three winters now, two different tapers each winter, some of them will become favourites for fishing in different waters.
The lovely P.H.Y. Perfectionist 7'6" 5 wt for fishing small streams using DT 4 silk line. Tom Morgan 7'6" 5 wt (nodeless) a different rod more precise and more power. And finally Lyle Dickerson 7613 7'6" 5 wt this rod I use for longer casting with 5-6 line a real powerhouse.
Building or buying bamboo rods you can't stash the rods in a corner in the basement. Put them in the living room on the rod rack where everybody can see them. Just remember to ask your wife or girlfriend first.
Along with the interest for bamboo rods it's natural to get some old reels to match the rods. I don't now what it is, but I really like these old Pflueger Medalist reels from the USA. Especially the model 1494 with it's smooth sound.
I got two silk line's from Terenzio Zandri in Italy. Been using them for three years now, and they are getting better and better after every fishing trip. Just have to grase the line before you go fishing.
Some great rods, and what wonderful river you have?

SvarSlettThank you, learning something new after every rod i'm building and I feel they are getting better, it's a great feeling.
The river is quite unique to be in Norway.
They were probably the first to introduce strict rules for fishing for trout, so now the river is full of large wild trout surrounded by beautiful scenery.
Am I allow to ask were it is, can anyone get a ticket to fish it?
SvarSlettI use a 5# 8' bamboo rod, made by a guy in England. For small streams it's wonderful.
