Finally one can breathe out after a long Christmas celebration. It was not so much rod building as I had planned. But now it's the start of the new year and the plane blades are razor sharp and ready for action. I managed to get some hours in the workshop, so the tip section for the 7' 3 wt rod is finally ready for gluing. The planingform are set and ready for the but section. So now it's just to get started with the planing.

The first rod is ready to be glued and the other rod is in the planing form.
I just contacted a split cane rod maker, Ulf Löfdal, here in Sweden today (or yesterday local time) and now I find your blog about bamboo fly rods, what a coincidence! I just posted some info of a rod made by Ulf Lövdal on my blog and I aim to continue with more about him. I really like your post. I have an Orvis Battenkill 704 bamboo rod that I just love. I've looked at the tips of that rod and it always amazes me how such a thin tip can be made of six strips of bamboo. It's almost unbelievable! I'll probably contact you soon since I'm so fascinated by bamboo rod building.

SvarSlettHave just returned from a holiday in Thailand, so I have not been able to answer you before now. Nice that you like the blog. Discover new fine blogs almost every day. So you've got a new follower. Just read your post about Ulf Løfdal, I have seen pictures of his rods, very fine rods, I particularly like his bamboo ferrule.
